Transfer Student Center Hosts Mini Social Canvas Painting for Transfer Students

The Transfer Student Center is hosting a mini canvas painting on Thursday, May 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Transfer students are encouraged to paint mini canvases with other peers and socialize while painting.

Tea will be served during the event and students can Register on Shoreline to see the location of the social.

One Body SB hosts The TakeOver: One Love with Open Mic host Vivian Storm

One Body SB, Associated Students, MultiCultural Center, Black Student Union, and Office of Black Student Development are hosting an Open Mic event on Friday, May 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Storke Plaza. The Open Mic will be hosted by drag queen Vivian Storm to “showcase the vibrancy, beauty and strengths of our community,” the Shoreline description Lily.

Sexual and Gender Diversity Resource Center hosts Healing Through Painting Social

The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD) is hosting a Healing Through Painting social event on Friday, May 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the RCSGD lounge. This event is part of the center’s Indigiqueer/Two-Spirit Hours, a weekly event to secure a place for Queer Indigenous and Two-Spirit students at UCSB.

All painting materials will be provided, and those interested can Register on Shoreline to attend.

Gala Melanin: Black Student Union Hosts Formal Spring Dance for Black Students

Black Student Union (BSU), Black Women’s Health Collaborative and the Office of Black Student Development are accommodation a spring formal dance “The Melanin Gala”, this Friday, May 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Goleta.

The dance theme is “Black Luxury”, and formal attire is required for the event.

“Step out dressed to impress…for a night full of food, dancing and melanin,” reads the description for BSU’s Instagram post.

Each student registered for the dance will be entered into a draw for raffle prizes and gift cards. Students can order tickets here.

Association of Armenian Students Hosts Sports Tournament of All Armenian Students

The Armenian Student Association holds its annual Armenian Association Games every Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29, respectively, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Sat.Tuesday and ending at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Each year, all ASAs come together for an All-ASA Games year-end to promote cultural unity and teamwork through recreational sports,” Shoreline’s description Lily. “This is a friendly exhibition game that participants participate in as a year-end tradition.”

WORD Magazine hosts annual WORDSTOCK

WORD Magazine is hosting its annual celebration of art, music and culture at WORDSTOCK this Saturday, May 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the IV Community Center.

The event will be host tie-dye and make-up activities, as well as a mural in collaboration with Thriving Initiative and a performance by Meerkats.
