John Legend chooses Camila Cabello’s four-chair singer

Camila Cabello proves herself his track record on “The Voice” is more than beginner’s luck.

The singing competition’s new coach won over 22-year-old medical student Andrew Igbokidi in the third round of blind auditions on Monday night. Igbokidi’s haunting cover of Billie Eilish’s ballad “When the Party’s Over” floored the judges, earning her a four-chair turn and standing ovations from Cabello and Gwen Stefani.

Cabello cut to the chase, telling Igbokidi she “badly” wanted the Nigerian American singer on her team.

“I feel vulnerable right now because I really, really believe in you,” Cabello told Igbokidi. “I feel like I could help polish your performance. I’ve been on a singing competition show before, and it’s an environment where you can feel a lot of pressure, where there are nerves.

Despite enthusiastic introductions from coaches Stefani, John Legend and Blake Shelton, Igbokidi opted to join Team Camila.

“You can’t beat her,” Shelton said of Cabello afterwards. “John was able to talk to (Igbokidi) about artists and music that I had never heard of, and the next thing you know he chose Camila.”

Here’s what else happened during Monday’s episode.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton feud over married country duo

Husband and wife duo The Dryes won over married trainers Stefani and Shelton with their charming rendition of “Islands in the Stream” by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.

Shelton bonded with the pair over their country sound and close working relationship.

“I can speak from experience: there is no better way to duet that if you are I doShelton joked.

Defending herself, Stefani encouraged The Dryes to make an “outside the box” choice.

“I’ve collaborated with all kinds of musicians,” Stefani said. “Whatever genre you’re in, it doesn’t really matter. Ultimately, we’re trying to figure out how we’re going to connect with America.

The duo eventually chose Shelton as their coach.

Camila Cabello and John Legend trade playful beards to win over the singer

Teen singer Ava Lynn Thuresson shook things up with her powerful cover of Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time,” prompting chair changes from Legend and Cabello.

The two coaches were both determined to catch the 18-year-old singer, trading playful barbs as they introduced themselves to Thuresson.

“It’s Camila’s first season. She’s learning,” Legend said. “But do you really want someone who’s just learning? Like, she just graduated from high school, I think.

But Cabello was quick to remind everyone of her coaching skills, using her background as a former ‘The X Factor’ contestant to her advantage.

“Do you want someone who’s been in a singing competition before and can show you the ropes?” Cabello said to Thuresson. “I did the auditions; I did the live broadcasts. I did this.

In the end, Cabello prevailed over Legend, with Thuresson opting to join Team Camila.

“Camila Cabello turned out to be tough competition for all of us, especially me,” Legend said afterwards.

John Legend defeats Camila Cabello by catching four-chair singer Morgan Taylor

Nashville-based singer Morgan Taylor caused a stir with her stunning vocal range and explosive performance of Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You,” scoring a quick four-chair turn herself.

“I see someone who was born to do what you do,” Stefani told Taylor. “It feels like you’re finally on stage, and now America needs to see you sing about God’s gift to you.”

The legend sprang from the 20-year-old’s vocal prowess.

“This song is such an intimidating song to take on, and you have a really powerful soprano voice,” Legend said. “The top part was so compelling. It sounded like it was supposed to be on the radio.

Turns out, flattery can get you somewhere, because Taylor chose to join Team Legend.

“I was tired of losing to Camila,” Legend said of his former celebrity adviser. “She was on my team. I taught her everything she knows.
