Jaipur: Almost 60% of students will not be able to participate in the University of Rajasthan (RUSU) student elections if the dates are not extended, representatives of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) said on Monday. The ABVP called for the election dates to be extended by at least 15 days.
Hushyar Singh Mena, National Secretary of the ABVP said, “We welcome the government’s decision to hold student union elections, however, the date of the elections must be postponed because by the end of August, the admissions process will not will not be completed and at least 60% of students from both under graduation and post-graduation will not be able to participate. Representatives of the National Student Union of India (NSUI) also shared similar views and said the government should consider extending the election dates.
Ramesh Bhati, spokesperson for the NSUI, said: “We have asked the authorities to first find a way to include new students in the electoral process because their participation is very important. But if this is not possible due to the ongoing admissions process, the election dates should be extended. »
Meanwhile, those responsible for University of Rajasthan Monday, said he sent a letter to the vice-chancellor giving his views on the election dates and asking for an extension.
