Auraria campus to host Stanley Cup events

The Auraria Campus is delighted to be the site of the Colorado Avalanche Pepsi Zero Sugar Watch Parties on the Tivoli Quad for all Stanley Cup home and away games. MSU Denver will continue with normal business operations, but please carefully review the information below, plan accordingly, and contact your supervisor for any changes in working arrangements.

Watch parties for all 2022 Stanley Cup Playoff games home and away will be hosted on the Tivoli Quad and are free and open to the public. Attendees can watch games on giant screens and enjoy food and drink for purchase. The June 18 event will feature a free concert from 4-5 p.m.

Access to the Tivoli Quad will be controlled and attendees must enter the event via the sidewalk between the PE/Events Center and the Plaza Building. Before introducing yourself, please consult the event webpage for a full schedule and more details.

  • Wednesday, June 15: 4 p.m.
  • Saturday June 18: 2 p.m.
  • Monday, June 20: 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 22: 4 p.m.

Access to the campus, flexibility in course modalities

Major traffic congestion, road closures and limited on-campus parking will impact the Auraria campus on all home and away game days. MSU Denver will continue normal business operations, but please plan accordingly. All employees should communicate with their supervisor regarding any change in work arrangements.

In anticipation of these impacts and closures, faculty members may cancel classes or switch to an online modality, if possible, on impacted days. Instructors will need to communicate these impacts and the resulting pedagogical changes directly to their students.

Access to the building

Several campus buildings will have restricted access on game days.

Wednesday June 16

  • MSU Denver buildings will be accessible by key card only after the following hours: Aerospace Science and Engineering Building, 3:30 p.m.; Hospitality Learning Center, 3 p.m.; Jordan Student Success Building, 5 p.m.
  • The buildings of the central, west and north classrooms will be accessible by key card only after 6:30 p.m.
  • All other shared academic buildings will be accessible by key card only after 6:00 p.m.
  • Tivoli Student Union hours of operation: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tivoli Starbucks: Remote order pickup will be offered via the Starbucks Patio at the west end of the Tivoli Student Union from 2-6 p.m.
  • The Auraria Library will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturday June 18

  • All MSU Denver buildings will be accessible by key card only.
  • All shared university buildings will be accessible by access card only after noon.
  • Tivoli Student Union Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Tivoli Starbucks: Remote order pick-up will be available through the Starbucks Patio at the west end of the Tivoli Student Union from 2-6 p.m.
  • The Auraria campus library will be closed.

Monday, June 20

  • All MSU Denver buildings will be accessible by key card only as the University is closed for the June 19 holiday.
  • The King Center, Science Building and West Classroom Building will be accessible by key card only after 6:30 p.m.
  • All other shared academic buildings will be accessible by key card only after 5:00 p.m.
  • Tivoli Student Union Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Tivoli Starbucks: Remote order pick-up will be available through the Starbucks Patio at the west end of the Tivoli Student Union from 2-6 p.m.
  • The Auraria Library will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More information will be provided soon regarding the remaining matches scheduled for June 22, 24, 26 and 28.

Road closures

  • Walnut Street will be closed for the duration of the series to accommodate material, technical, and logistical needs.
  • Additional closures include parts of 11e Street, 12th Street and Larimer Street.
  • Road closures come into effect at 3:30 p.m. on event days, except Saturdays when closures will begin at 2 p.m.

Car park

Event organizers anticipate traffic jams. For anyone who must access campus by car, standard parking policies remain in place. Students and employees with a permit can park normally. Vehicles registered with the AHEC parking office will not be subject to event-specific parking rates, which begin after 3:00 p.m. Fares for the event will be $20 for the courts and $25 in the Tivoli garage. Reservation of parking spaces is not permitted.
